Young actors wanted for exciting new project

The Kilbeggan based Writers Group is looking for young actors between the age of 14 and 18 who would be interested in becoming involved with the group’s new project.

Writer Caroline Barry has been running the Kilbeggan Writers Group for teenagers for the past five years.

“Up until now, I have focused on teaching the young writers how to write a novel and all the nuts and bolts that entails, from structure to character development. This year I decided to focus on writing a stage play, this was to help the students tighten up on narrative and motivation, improve their dialogue skills, and help them create distinctive and compelling characters. It has been a fantastic development.”

“I want to bring the young writers work to the stage. Ideally I would like us to be involved in the All-Ireland Drama Festival, but if that doesn’t happen, I still want to produce this work. The scripts are very strong. I need both boys and girls. There will be auditions so the young people will have to prepare a short three minute audition piece,” Caroline says. “I am interested in getting a large and good crew on board. I don’t mind if you have never acted before, if you are keen to audition and want to give it a shot, contact me.”

For more information contact Caroline at (087 ) 7517403. Auditions take place on Saturday March 12 in Athlone Library.

Booking is essential.
