Budding hurlers of the future participate in Under 10 NHL half-time games

Saturday afternoon last saw eight U10 teams get to grace Cusack Park at half time in the NHL game with Antrim.

Players from Brownstown, Castlepollard, Castletown-Geoghegan, Clonkill, Cullion, Lough Lene Gaels, Ringtown and St Brigids were all in action at the interval.

Thanks to Emmet Corrigan and Bernie Coroon for organising and well done to all the players and mentors on their great displays. This weekend, the U10 footballers from Castletown-Finea/Coole/Whitehall, Tubberclair, Ballynacargy, St Lomans and Coralstown/Kinnegad will offer the half time entertainment in the NFL game between Westmeath and Down.

Coach Education

Westmeath GAA staff were busy on the coach education front over the last week with an Award 1 Dual Course recently commencing.

A total of 25 enthusiastic coaches were in attendance in Cusack Park for the first night of the course. On Friday evening and Saturday morning in Garrycastle, 20 coaches completed their Introduction to Gaelic Games Course (Foundation ).

Thanks to Garrycastle for hosting and well done to all who completed the course.

Development Squads

Due to the inclement weather and hurling Feile, Westmeath U16 footballers were the only squad in action at the weekend. Westmeath played Offaly in a challenge game on Saturday morning in Hogan Park Moate, with all players getting substantial game time. This will help prepare them for their upcoming Ted Webb Cup games with Dublin, Galway and Cork East.

Thanks to Moate All Whites for hosting the game. All other development squads have received their fixture details for the year and can start planning ahead for these assignments.
