Portlick scout campsite to host community days for displaced children within community

Portlick scout campsite will host two days of activities for displaced children from war torn countries living in County Westmeath, on Thursday, August 17 and Friday, August 18.

The campsite management board are providing their facilities and activities free of charge as a gesture of welcome to the displaced children living in our communities with the hope that there will be approximately 150 children taking part on each day.

It is an opportunity for these children to enjoy Portlick Scout Campsite’s unique range of activities and to have fun in the beautiful surroundings of Lough Ree and Portlick Bay.

There will be both land based and water activities available including kayaking, waterslide, tag archery, crate stacking, zipline, gladiator challenge, obstacle course, climbing wall and field sports.

Westmeath Community Development and New Horizons are supporting this event by co-ordinating the groups and providing transport to and from Portlick scout campsite.
