Storm surges and gusts of up to 130kph are expected to hit Galway later today (Thursday) and overnight tonight as the country braces itself for Storm Lorenzo.

In light of the severe Weather Warning issued by Met Éireann for Friday, February 8 the Coast Guard is calling on the general public and all mariners to heed the warnings and take appropriate action.
