Mayo Gaelic footballers Aidan O’Shea, Lee Keegan, and Colm Boyle feature in a new tourism video released online this week. The video follows the players as they embark on a road trip along the Wild Atlantic Way in Mayo. It is the second production in the Wild Mayo series of five tourism films, commissioned by Mayo.ie. In the film, the three men revisit Belmullet, the location of a memorable training camp as part of the Mayo senior football team. They discuss their past experiences and visit some old familiar faces along the way.

The rescheduled Breaffy GAA Monster Auction will take place this coming Saturday in Breaffy GAA Clubhouse. The auction was due to take place on Saturday, May 27 but was postponed as a mark of respect after a tragic death in the club. The auction gets underway this Saturday at 6.30pm and the hundreds of items up for auction has a worth in excess of €30,000.

Over the past six seasons Mayo have faced Galway five times in the Connacht championship, next Sunday's meeting in Pearse Stadium will be the sixth meeting in seven years. Mayo will be kicking their heels for the guts of two months now, until they get into championship action and you can only feel that’s a pity - because the intensity and passion they showed in the second half of this win over Donegal is something they will need to recreate come summer time.

What a difference a week makes. The Jekyll and Hyde side of Mayo football was never so evident as in their last three performances. When word filtered through that Cavan had drawn with Kerry at half time in this encounter, the permutations and combinations of results that would be needed for Mayo to stay up in division one if they couldn’t come home from Omagh with win under their belts were being worked out by the supporters. But come full time in this one Mayo had put their destiny back in their own hands, thanks to Kevin McLoughlin’s brilliant winning score.

Mayo went down to a third league defeat of the season against a suffocating Cavan side in Castlebar on Sunday afternoon, the loss leaves them in the relegation scrap at the bottom of the table with tough encounters against Tyrone and Donegal up next on the horizon for them.

There was more than an air of hope around the county last week that Mayo could go to Croke Park and drive a knife into the heart of Dublin's 32 game unbeaten run in their own back yard. But from within minutes of the ball being thrown in, those hopes were proved to be idle pleasures of an early spring day dream.

You can only beat what is put in front of you, but last weekend's showing by Roscommon will have their supporters in a flutter - with lots of questions looking to be answered, but for Mayo it was hardly ideal preparation for a meeting with the All Ireland champions in their own back yard.
