Yeats College Galway has this week announced the return of its much sought after Irish language college. In its fourth year, Colaiste Yeats offers a two-week day course for Junior Certificate, Leaving Certificate, and primary school students.

Bunaíodh Coláiste Sheosaimh i 1960 agus eagraítear cúrsaí Gaeilge rathúla gach bliain ó shin. Coláiste Sheosaimh is situated about 40 miles west of Galway city. Since it was first established in 1960 the college has run very successful Irish courses from its two centres in Cárna (junior college) and Cill Chiaráin (senior college). The morning classes have been fully revised and restructured to put increased emphasis on oral work in line with the new school curriculum.

The Galway Study Centre will be offering one week of intensive revision classes during the Christmas holiday period. Classes will start on Monday December 31, and apart from New Year’s Day, will continue until Saturday January 5.

There has been an increase in points for 30 of the 50 programmes offered by Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT) through the CAO, with some 15 courses increasing by 25 points or more.

The extra points awarded to higher level maths students were the main talking point as over 1,400 students across Westmeath received their Leaving Cert results on Wednesday morning this week.

The waiting is over, for Leaving Certificate results at least. But now, another wait begins, with CAO offers not published until Monday August 20.
