Bail for man who accused gardai of lies

Bail has been granted to a Mullingar man who replied “don’t f**king touch me, you pig” to gardaí when charged with public intoxication.

The court also heard that Cormac Murray, 4 Prospect Avenue, Dublin Road, Mullingar responded “It’ll only be corrupt anyway,” when charged with threatening, abusive behaviour and said “it’s a lie” when officially charged with resisting Garda Brian Freyne.

Mr Murray is also charged with interrupting the free passage of a vehicle.

Inspector Jarlath Folan said he had no objection to bail but asked for conditions. Judge Neilan ordered that Mr Murray observe a curfew between 5pm and 9am and banned him from all licensed premises in the State.

He is to appear before the court again on January 8 for monitoring of his progress.
