Fashion Aid fundraiser a success

Members of the Irish Friends of Pakistan Flood Appeal wish to thank supporters who attended the Fashion Aid event last week in Mullingar Arts Centre.

Secretary of the Irish Friends of Pakistan Flood Appeal and resident of Mullingar, Rashid Butt, is in Pakistan purchasing and delivering vital life-saving aid to people in the Jhang and southern Punjab Districts with the money donated by the people of Mullingar, staff of the Sligo General Hospital, and Sister Catherine Kelly in Sligo.

Rashid’s message to those who attended Fashion Aid is that, “The people of Pakistan are grateful for the help from the Irish people. The flood-affected people are fatigued but not despondent. They are determined to rebuild their lives again and your help is making that happen. Thank you.”

The devastating floods hit Pakistan in July this year. The international media reported this week that seven million people in Pakistan continue to be without shelter and fresh water, receiving no or very little aid as of yet.
