Fine for drink driving on wrong side of the road

Judge William Early said a man caught drink driving on the wrong side of a dual carriageway was lucky the prosecution had decided to strike out a danAgerous driving offence.

Andrew Mc Donnell of 15 Ashington Grove, Navan Road, Dublin 7 pleaded guilty to the offence committed at Griffinstown, Kinnegad on August 9, 2008 when he was stopped at 4.40am by Garda Blessing.

The garda had observed him driving the wrong way down the dual carriageway at Clongowney.

He had 71mg alcohol/100ml breath when he was tested at Mullingar Garda Station and Mr John Quinn said the mandatory three year disqualification would hamper him trying to get work.

He was fined €300.
