Clean sweep at The Connacht Property Auction final auction of 2017

The Connacht Property Auction finished its year of public auctions on a high note with a 100 per cent success rate at last Thursday’s public auction. The auction was held in The Menlo Park Hotel, Galway, on Thursday November 23, and the auction team noted a significant increase in viewings in the lead up and sold an impressive 11 of the 11 properties.

Brian Christy, sales manager for The Connacht Property Auction, commented: “All the team at the Connacht Property Auction are delighted to have achieved a clean sweep at what was our last auction event of 2017. It is a feat that is not achieved too often at multi-lot auction events such as ours. We are now gearing up to 2018 and are taking entries already for our first public auction event of the New Year on February 20.”

Mr Christy also noted: “The success of our auctions is down to the large marketing campaign we undertake in Ireland and abroad while also working in close partnership with local auctioneers. This combination of both access to the local buying pool and the broader reach of the auction ensures we have the best chance of finding buyers for the properties we offer for sale. We are the only auction company in Ireland who do not have any entry or marketing fees to enter a property into auction, so the pressure is on us to ensure we get results for our clients.”

One of the more popular lots at the event was a two bed cottage overlooking the beautiful town of Clifden which was offered for sale in partnership with Matt O'Sullivan, Clifden. The Old Dispensary, Galway Road, which has recently been fully refurbished, received a number of enquiries in the lead up to the auction event and sold for €133,000.

Close to Castlebar town, a three bed house was offered for sale in partnership with DNG Burke Connolly Maloney, Castlebar. Ballingarden, Derryhick, was subject to strong interest and a number of parties were seeking to secure this well located property. Bids came in quick succession from €50,000 until the hammer fell at €68,000.

In Roscommon a delightful stone built cottage situated on The Plains was offered to the auction room in partnership with Vincent Egan auctioneers, Boyle. Rusheen had a number of parties registering their interest and the sale was agreed for €40,000. In Sligo, an excellently located two bed semidetached property was sold in partnership with DM Auctions Ltd, Sligo. No 173 River Road, Cartron, was subject to strong interest in the lead up to the auction, with potential buyers quick to try to secure this well located property. Bidding opened at €50,000 and quickly rose. After more than 35 bids the hammer fell at €86,000, some €36,000 above the guide price.

Also for sale, in partnership with DNG Burke Connolly Maloney, was a delightful two bed cottage located just eight miles from Castlebar. Again the team saw strong interest in this property, both locally and further afield, and it eventually sold for €85,000 to the delighted new owner.

Another popular lot was a four bed family home in Crossmolina, Co Mayo. This property was brought to market in partnership with Gerry Rowland of The Optimum Group and the vendor accepted an offer of €74,000 on the online auction prior to Thursday's event.

The company has confirmed five public auction events for 2018, with the first to take place on February 20. The Connacht Property Auction is continuing to take entries for its online auctions which are ongoing.
