Financial Solutions Skillnet’s training programme to beat ‘recessionary blues’

Galway Advertiser, February 19, 2009.

Financial Solutions Skillnet (FSS), which offers subsidised training and networking for West of Ireland financial services companies, has received funding of €136,500 from the Department of Enterprise Trade and Employment to deliver its second year of training.

Kick-starting its 2009 programme, the FSS Network has announced a number of training courses over the coming months which will focus on beating those “recessionary blues”.

Speaking about the upcoming training programme, Nuala Martyn, network manager of Financial Solutions Skillnet said feedback from members has revealed that now more than ever the financial services sector needs tailored training to keep focused and in tune with the economic climate.

“ For this reason, our 2009 programme will deliver training across all aspects of the financial services sector. All training will be cognisant of recent market changes and will help better equip our members to face the challenges over the coming year.”

The first of these courses, which will take place on Friday March 13 between 9.30am and 5pm, is entitled Sales ASAP. This course, which will be delivered by one of Ireland’s leading trainers Dermot McConkey, will focus on a four stage approach to achieving a sales target in difficult times; attitude, strategy, application, and persistence.

“After completing this course, participants will go away feeling invigorated and optimistic that they can achieve ambitious sales targets, contrary to all beliefs,” added Ms Martyn.

On Thursday March 26, Colm Finnegan of Performance Solutions will kick-off his training courses, with two half day sessions. The first half of the day will focus on ‘Protection Advice to Clients in Difficult Times’ and the second half of the day will concentrate on ‘Increasing your Sales through Client focused Advice’. He will also deliver a day’s training on Pensions, with four CPD hours accreditation, on April 7.

Other courses taking place in the next number of months will include marketing, communications and PR training on Thursday April 2. This course will be delivered by Bane Mullarkey, Galway based marketing and PR consultants and will provide participants with practical tips and advice on how they can effectively communicate their company message to their audiences even if they have only a small budget for promotion. Evelyn Hanrahan will also be providing a half-day’s compliance training, with two CPD hours accreditation, on Tuesday April 2. This will focus on re-defining the role of sales support staff in the modern business.

All courses will take place at Days’ Hotel, Dublin Road, Galway and are open to both members and non members of the FSS Skillnet.
