Young, gifted, and a piano sensation

HE IS 19, he is Russian, a gifted pianist, and the winner of this year’s Dublin International Piano Competition. He is Nikolay Khozyainov and he is coming to Galway.

Nikolay Khozyainov will play the Aula Maxima, NUI Galway, on Wednesday November 7 at 8pm where he will perform Beethoven’s Piano Sonata in A flat major, Op 110; Ravel’s ‘Gaspard de la Nuit’, Liszt’s Piano Sonata in B minor; and two pieces by Chopin - Barcarolle Op 60 and Berceuse Op 57.

Born in Blagoveshchensk, eastern Russia in 1992, Nikolay is emerging as one of the most promising new names in classical piano. He was the youngest finalist of the XVI International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 2010.
