Fleadh to premiere new film on Martin Hayes

CLARE FIDDLER Martin Hayes is one of the pivotal figures of Irish traditional music, and the subject of a major new documentary which will premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh.
Natural Grace – Irish Music and Martin Hayes will receive its world premiere on Wednesday July 11 at 5pm in the Town Hall Theatre.
In 2009 Connemara-based filmmaker Art O’Briain, who counted himself among Hayes’ many fans, approached the musician with the idea of collaborating on a project that would make the best of their respective artforms.
Filmed over a two-year period, Natural Grace is a journey into Hayes’s life and music. The film follows him from his native County Clare, to the US and Japan, and sees him in both informal and concert settings. From this emerges a man who is an eloquent and articulate champion of the old and the new in Irish trad.
