Jazz great Martin Taylor @ The Crane

MARTIN TAYLOR, one of the world's foremost exponents of solo jazz guitar, will play The Crane Bar, Sea Road, on Monday November 7 at 9pm.

Taylor first came to attention in the mid-1990s when his interpretation of the standard ‘Frankie & Johnny’ was featured on the popular “Nicole?” “Papa!” Renault Clio ads. He also wrote for the major guitar magazine Guitar Techniques.

Since then he has released numerous acclaimed albums, was made an Honorary Doctor of the University of The West of Scotland, received 14 British Jazz Awards as a guitarist, and won the Best Contemporary Song award at the BBC Folk Awards in 2009.

He has also collaborated with Stephane Grappelli, Chet Atkins, Bill Wyman, George Harrison, Dionne Warwick, Sacha Distel, Bryn Terfel, and Jamie Cullum. In 2002, he was appointed MBE “For Services To Jazz Music”.

He is a master concert performer, dazzling audiences with his solo shows which combine virtuosity, emotion, and humour, with a strong stage presence. As well as his recording and touring career he also presides over the innovative Martin Taylor Guitar Academy online.
