Native American storyteller at city museum

MARTÍN PRETCHEL, the artist, musician, storyteller, and teacher will be telling traditional stories in the Galway City Museum on Thursday November 11 at 7pm.

Martín is partly Native American with a Pueblo Indian upbringing. His life took him from New Mexico to the village of Santiago Atitlan, Guatemala.

There he became a full village member of the Tzutujil Mayan population. He eventually served as one of the village leaders responsible for instructing young people in the meanings of ancient stories through the rituals of adult rights of passage.

On the night he will recite stories of the Tzutujil Maya. Admission is free and a selection of his books and CDs will be on sale. To reserve a seat email [email protected]
