THE WIZ, a funk-soul retelling of The Wizard Of Oz, will be staged by the Galway University Musical Society as part of this year’s NUI, Galway Múscailt arts festival.
The Wiz takes place in the Black Box Theatre from Tuesday February 9 to Saturday 13 at 8pm with matinees on Wednesday 10 and February 11 at 11am.
The musical was written by Charlie Smalls and William F Brown and won seven Tony Awards after its opening run on Broadway in 1975. It has been revived many times since and was made into a film starring Michael Jackson in 1978.
Tickets are available from the Town Hall on 091 - 569777.
