By Kernan Andrews
THE NUI Galway Chamber Orchestra will hold a fundraising concert for Zikomo in the upper Aula Maxima, NUIG, on Monday at 8pm.
Under the baton of Hugh Kelly, the orchestra will perform works by Schubert (Symphony No 5) and Bach (Brandenburg Concerto No 4).
Local musicians Nuala Ní Chanainn (violin), Joanne Carter (flute), and Jantien Vandenberg (flute) will feature as soloists in the Brandenburg Concerto. The orchestra are delighted to be joined by the NUIG Choral Society for a performance of Vivaldi’s Gloria and the traditional song, ‘The Lark In The Clear Air’.
Zikomo is a Galway based charity, which fosters long term self-sufficiency in rural communities in Malawi.
Tickets are €5 and are available for Socs Box in Áras na Mac Léinn, NUIG or at the door. Zikomo will also have cards and Christmas cribs for sale. Light refreshments will be served.
