Some Way Out Of Town jazz at Kelly’s
Way Out Of Town.
By Kernan Andrews
WHEN JAZZ trio Way Out Of Town Trio start playing music they merge jazz, lounge, ambient, and hip hop to a point where free turns funky, and then funky gets swinging.
Way Out Of Town play the next Galway Jazz Club gig at Kelly’s, Bridge Street, this Sunday at 9pm. The band is a dynamic new improvisational jazz group featuring Helsinki-based Puerto Rican guitarist Neff Irizarry, British based Puerto Rican electric bassist Antonio Quijano, and Irish drummer David Lyttle.
The 24-year-old Lyttle has been hailed as one of the most significant jazz musicians to have emerged in Ireland in recent years. Jazzwise mgazine has praised his “notably assured technique, greased lightning reflexes and an unfailing sense of swing”.
Admission is €10/8. See www.myspace.com/wayoutoftowntrio
