Voices for Burma fundraiser
Portraits.
By Kernan Andrews
THE PORTRAITS will play upstairs in the Róisín Dubh on Friday October 30 at 8pm at a show to raise funds for children in Burma.
The Portraits are a singer-songwriter duo of Jeremy Millington (from Bristol) and Lorraine Reilly (from Loughrea). Proceeds from the show plus all profits from the sale of Timescapes will go towards the school in Mandalay, Burma, which provides street children with a home and an education.
The school also promotes free thought, but given that Burma is run by the military, the school operates under the constant glare of those in power with teachers regularly interrogated and threatened by police.
Support is from Galway singer-songwriters, John Lillis and Stacey Nolan. Admission is free.
