Following a sold-out London premiere at the ICC Theatre, Hammersmith, Galway playwright and author Conor Montague explores grief, hurling, and friendship in a 70 minute performance.

Starring Montague and Kieran Kelliher with music by Seamus Ruttledge, the play revolves around two former All-Star hurlers Martin and Ollie grappling with the death of Martin's wife, Sarah, on a journey of grief, forgiveness, and new beginnings.

Award-winning Irish playwright and screenwriter Eugene O'Brien says, “Counting Swans is a beautiful excavation of one man coming to terms with grief and his past. Montague understands these hard men, GAA lads, who, given the chance, are actually full of self-knowledge and emotion. Funny but tough, full of feeling but unsentimental. This is a beautifully judged piece.”

Counting Swans was shortlisted for the Druid Theatre New Writing Prize 2024 and premiered as part of the 2025 Scripts Ireland Playwriting Festival.

Counting Swans will play from October 22-24 at 8.30pm, doors at 8.15. Parental guidance advised.

Tickets are available at www.tht.ie and (091 ) 569777.
