The guitar player who has toured America since the 1970s began performing in Galway, aged 16, with bands Spoonful, Skull, Life’s Feast and Rock and Roll Circus.
In 1975 he emigrated to America to focus on his music career. Kelleher has played all over the US in venues including Carnegie Hall, The Lincoln Center, The Sands in Las Vegas and at festivals across Europe.
He continues to do close to two hundred shows a year, and often speaks fondly of his memories of playing venues across Ireland, including famously opening for Thin Lizzy when they played The Hangar in Salthill.
The Quays show is part of a three-week tour of Ireland that includes performances in Dubin, Kerry and Mayo.
“I’m delighted to be back at the Quays. It’s always a special show and this year I’ll be joined by my super talented nephews Declan and Cormac Folan and my dear friend and gifted musician Bernie Naughton. The Quays is such a special venue and there’s nothing like standing on that stage and playing the music I love for friends and family.”
