Johnluke’s upcoming single ‘Nervous’, to be released tomorrow, Friday, May 22, marks the first release from his Comical Romance Vol. 2 EP series.
Setting the tone for a summer-soaked love story, the track introduces the playful yet heartfelt theme set to define this next release.
The Galwegian artist considers this track as a beginning, as ‘Nervous’ pulls listeners into a “love lust rollercoaster”, leaving fans eager for the next chapter.
‘Nervous’ tells that story of an all too familiar moment: when friends hype you up so much that you start to believe you actually have a chance, before reality hits just as quickly.
“‘Nervous’ was written straight after a night out where a friend set me up with a girl who I felt was completely out of my league, only for her to reject me immediately,” says Johnluke. “It explores how rejection can quickly spiral into a lack of confidence, and even a sense of madness when trying to find a partner.”
The song captures the shift from confidence, to self-doubt, turning an awkward, honest experience into something energetic and relatable. Built from a single guitar riff, it gradually evolves into the feeling of a full live band, mirroring events from the night in question.
Rooted in a pop rock sound, ‘Nervous’ combines raw storytelling with a crescendo of live energy.
