Eight people have already been killed on Irish roads so far in 2026, including one person in Galway.

A staggering 190 people were killed on Irish roads last year, and it is in this context that Galway singer-songwriter Johnluke’s new single ‘Angry in the Moment’ comes with a powerful message of road safety awareness.

Out tomorrow, Friday, January 30, the former busker’s latest track is written from deeply personal experience.

“I wrote ‘Angry in the Moment’ for anyone who has had to suffer the loss of a loved one to a car crash. It’s a massive problem, and I want this song to reach as many people as possible…” He said he hopes the song might - in some small way - help to prevent an accident, and it is a realistic depiction of what can happen on our roads.

‘Angry in the Moment’ confronts the harsh reality of losing a loved one on the roads. Told from the perspective of someone overwhelmed by the pressures of everyday life, the song explores how a single moment of distraction or anger can lead to irreversible, heartbreaking consequences.

In Galway city, Johnluke is well known as a regular performer in The Quays Bar. Since his 2024 debut ‘Already Been Told’ and viral TikTok favourite ‘City Lovin’’, the crafter of pop ballads with a folk blend is a natural story teller. Fans of Mumford & Sons, Noah Kahan, Dermot Kennedy, Paolo Nutini, and Ed Sheeran will all hear something that appeals.

Last year, Johnluke was named by Today FM as one its Top 5 Emerging Irish Artists in their Ireland’s Next Big Busker 2025 campaign. Supported by Dave Moore as his chosen act, he finished as runner-up, raising vital funds in aid of Focus Ireland. Johnluke also received support from Miriam O’Callaghan on RTÉ Radio 1, where he performed City Lovin’ and Green Eyes live in Studio 8 for a special session. He made his television debut on Virgin Media One’s The Six O’Clock Show, performing Green Eyes live as part of their “Six Sessions” feature, ahead of its official release.

'Angry in the Moment' will be available on Spotify from January 30.
