Indie entertainer Jerry Fish will bring his theatrical style of performance to Monroe’s Live on Tuesday, December 30, with doors open at 9pm for this seated show.
One of Ireland’s most enigmatic artists, the evening will focus on his recent work, alongside songs from across his career.
He first came to prominence in the 1990s fronting Dublin alt-rock band An Emotional Fish, where he toured the globe with the group who crafted the indie rock anthem ‘Celebrate’.
Since then, he has developed a successful solo career and is renowned for a cabaret style of entertainment, swaggering vocals, and that fantastic, vaudeville moustache.
His charismatic performances have made him a household name. He has two platinum selling solo albums, an MTV award and an IRMA Music Award.
Fish’s latest album, Dreaming of Daniel, is a collection of 13 songs by the late American songwriter Daniel Johnston, recorded with MayKay of Fight Like Apes.
The project reflects his long-held admiration for Johnston’s writing and approach to song, and marks a more reflective chapter for the Dublin-born entertainer.
In tandem with his solo releases, he has become associated with projects such as the Jerry Fish Electric Sideshow and Fish Town at Electric Picnic, which are now established features of the festival.
At his Monroe’s performance, Fish will present material from Dreaming of Daniel, which went straight to No 1 on the Independent Album Charts upon its release, alongside his greatest hits.
“Our live performances are a mix of music, theatre and the spirit of the carnival,” says Jerry. “Wherever I go, the circus is never far behind.”
