Choral Academy returns to Roscommon this July

The Choral Academy was founded in 2005 by Maley School of Music director Jim Maley. Now in its seventh year, the academy has gone from strength to strength and holds academies in Donegal, Sligo, and will return to Roscommon Arts Centre from Monday July 4 to Friday July 8 for a week long camp of music, singing, and fun with musical director Jim Maley.

While the minimum age is 10 years, there is no upper age limit for young people who feel they would like to contribute to the programme; anyone from first, second, or third level is welcome and will be grouped accordingly.

The Choral Academy teaches you to sing as part of a group in harmonies and solos and everyone gets a specialised singing lesson to cater for the individual needs of your voice. The singing lessons are designed to help you to sing and take care of your voice, which will prove invaluable wherever you go. At the end of the week there will be a showcase where everyone can display their newfound talents on stage in the theatre that all your family and friends can attend. This has been an amazing success every year with family and friends stunned at what can be achieved in a week and gives you an amazing sense of accomplishment. Featuring songs from artists and composers like U2, Coldplay, Snow Patrol, as well as some other familiar there are and not so familiar, even a couple of surprises! This camp gives you a great deal of confidence that you can apply to every aspect of life. This week long camp costs €120 with family discounts available and takes place daily at Roscommon Arts Centre from 10am - 4pm (July 4 to 8 ).
