Roscommon back in Connacht final

Roscommon 2-12 Leitrim 0-06

Reigning champions Roscommon remain on track to defend their title having easily accounted for a disappointing Leitrim side in Carrick-on-Shannon last Sunday. Fergal O Donnell’s men were far superior to Leitrim throughout the field and judging on this performance they have every chance of claiming back-to-back titles.

The potent full-forward line of Devaney, Kilbride, and Shine contributed 2-7 in and will test any fullback line in the game.

Hopes were high within Leitrim that they could cause another upset following their dismissal of Sligo. Roscommon were not in the mood for taking any chances however and imposed themselves on the game from the throw-in.

The winter-like conditions and one-sided nature of the game ensured it was far from a classic but in championship football the result is all that matters.

O’Donnell’s men will find out this weekend who their opposition will be in the Connacht final. With serious question marks hanging over both Galway and Mayo, Roscommon have a great opportunity to repeat last year’s success.
