Athlone CC take home medals at swimming championship
Athlone Community College took a total of 15 medals in the Connacht Schools Swimming Championships at the weekend.
Thirteen talented students from the Athlone Community College, braved the terrible weather to take part in the Connacht Schools Swimming Championships in Galway. All 13 students swim for the Athlone Swimming Club and have trained intensely over the Christmas period, in Athlone and Limerick, in preparation for the schools competition.
The team was made up of:
Ruairi Berryman, John Conlon, Frank Carty, Christine Conway, Michelle Gibbons, Brendan Gibbons, Clare Gibbons, Chloe Joyce, Darragh Joyce, Katie Jameson, Eric Kearney, Sionann O'Reilly Collins, and Cian Warby.
The team took four individual gold medals, four silver, and four bronze. They also took gold in three relays each made up of a team of four. All swimmers got individual personal best times.
The students worked well as a team, encouraging each other from the poolside, and were a credit to the school.
