The Athlone Drug Awareness Group was the recent recipient of a generous donation of €825 from the Athlone branch of TESCO in Golden Island Shopping Centre under the company’s very successful tokens awards initiative.

Chairman of the group, Cllr Frankie Keena, complimented TESCO on this marvellous initiative which has provided much needed financial support to numerous voluntary groups over the years. He also thanked the members of the public for kindly placing their tokens in the Group’s jar within the store.

He noted that the Athlone Drug Awareness Group is so grateful to Dessie O’Hanlon, Customer Experience Manager, Tesco Golden Island and all the team within the store for their generosity and confirmed that the money received will be used to create further awareness about the dangers of substance misuse and the scourge of all those ruthless drug dealers who prey on the vulnerability and low self esteem of some members of the public.
