August is here, and the big competitions around the clubs of Mayo keep coming thick and fast and it was no different last weekend.

THE WRITER June Caldwell launches her debut short story collection, Room Little Darker, at the Over The Edge Writers’ Gathering, which takes place next week in the Kitchen Café of the Galway City Museum.

The first two races in the Mayo AC Vodafone C&C Cellular 5km Summer Series took place over the past few days with races in Foxford and Ballyhaunis. In the first race in the series in Foxford there were 160 competitors taking part.
