I have not any particular memories about him but I have always felt that he was a most honourable person, and that seems to be the general opinion now upon his passing. I noted at his funeral home that his faithful dog who he has had for years was keeping watch on the rug outside, and I thought well, the late president must have had very admirable human traits. May he rest in peace.

Professor McClenaghan comes to GMIT from the University of Ulster where he held a number of rolesincluding Course Director of the B.Sc. (Hons) Biomedical Science, Head of School of Biomedical Sciences (2007-2017), Professor of Bio-innovation and Enterprise (since 2009), and member of the Senate.

Museum acquires handwritten Ó Conaire letters

An important collection of letters from the mid-1920s concerning the Irish-language writer Pádraic Ó Conaire has been kindly donated to Galway City Museum by the Galway Technical Institute on the ninetieth anniversary of the author’s death. The letters relate to Ó Conaire’s time as an Irish language teacher at Galway Technical Institute (GTI), then situated on Dominick Street.
