Fine for man who jumped out of car in front of patrol car

A 23-year-old unemployed Swinford man who jumped out of a car that was being pursued by gardaí and almost caused an accident when he fell into the path of the Garda car, was fined a total of €375 in Ballyhaunis District Court this week.

Connacht Cup keeps the action moving

There is no let up from the action in Mayo soccer circles this weekend with the Connacht Cup taking over where the FAI Junior cup left off last weekend. Even with the terrible weather conditions which saw a lot of sporting events called off around the country, only two games fell foul to the rain in Mayo, the ties between Castlebar Celtic and Straide and Foxford United and the Ballina Town and Kiltimagh/Knock United game.

Fr Denis McManus from Swinford died peacefully on Christmas Day 2009 at the Spiritan (Holy Ghost) nursing home in Kimmage Manor, Dublin.
