New arts programme for spring 2015 unveiled for Roscommon Arts Centre

It’s another jam-packed programme of events as Roscommon Arts Centre unveil their programme of events with the fantastic Neil Delamere kicking off the new season with his new show The Fresh Prince of Delamere on Friday January 9. Neil is hugely popular with Roscommon audiences and is guaranteed to delight the crowd once more with his on-stage banter and quick-witted yarns!

Roscommon Lamb Festival 2012 programme of events launched

Roscommon Lamb Festival was launched recently in the Abbey Hotel. Chairman Gerry Browne in his address reiterated that the festival is rooted in the soil and landscape of county Roscommon and was pleased to note that it has now taken root in the hearts and minds of the population of the county. He said the festival will open as usual in the Roscommon Livestock Mart on Wednesday May 2 with a special sheep sale and this year there will be a reenactment of a traditional fair day scene courtesy of Tommy Murray and the Roscommon Drama Group.

Stage comeback for Cynthia in On a Wing and a Prayer

One of the principal roles in the musical On a Wing and a Prayer will herald a welcome return to the stage by Leitrim-born Cynthia Clampett who will play Dame Judy Coyne. Mrs Coyne and her husband, Judge Liam Coyne, were instrumental in reviving interest in Knock Shrine, and she founded the handmaids and stewards, provided facilities for the sick, and had a broad vision for the development of the Shrine. She was also responsible for commissioning the statues at the apparition gable in Knock. She died in 2002.
