The National Even Ages Juveniles and National Senior Cross Country Championships were held in Templemore Sports Centre, Derry last Sunday, November 23.

The first day of the Connacht Clubs Cross Country Championships were held last Sunday last in Enniscrone, Co Sligo, in muddy and testing conditions. The Even Ages Juvenile races for U10 to U18 were held, along with Day two of the Connacht Senior League.

Day two of the Galway Cross Country championships was held in Tuam at the Palace Grounds last Sunday, with the Uneven Ages Juvenile races, and the Intermediate Men’s and Women’s Championships taking place.

Castlegar AC hosted day one of the Galway Cross Country event last Saturday, along with the Galway Novice Men’s and Women’s Championships in Galway Racecourse.

Matthew Newell of Tuam AC competed at the European Race Walking Team Championships in Podebrady in Czechia last weekend. Newell raced in the U20 10km and recorded a new personal best of 44:52 as he finished in 19th place.

Two days of the National Indoor Track and Field championships for U12s to U19s took place last weekend. Galway athletes excelled taking home multiple national medals, with notable success in the Race Walking events.

Irish Schools Cross Country Championships

The Connacht Indoor Track and Field championships were held over two days in Athlone Indoor Arena last weekend. Galway clubs travelled in huge numbers and gained a huge medal haul over the 100 plus events on the programme.

The final cross country All Irelands of the year were held in scenic Tramore, on the Racecourse last Sunday. Galway clubs once again secured multiple medals.
