Leave the motor at home this World Car Free Day - Council

Westmeath County Council is encouraging the public to consider alternative means of transport to their cars as part of World Car Free Day on Friday, September 22.

Give your car the day off while you enjoy the benefits of walking, cycling or taking public transport to work or school. For those who have a longer commute and must use the car, the County Council is encouraging you to consider ‘Parking & Striding’ or carpooling for part of your journey, or to simply take a “car free adventure” on your lunch break.

Westmeath County Council is asking you to share your individual experience with alternative means of transport and be in with a chance of winning one of two €25 One4all vouchers.

Simply snap a photo on your car free journey on September 22 and upload it to Facebook or Twitter using #17WHCarFree.

Schools and employers are also asked to organise their own car free days and to post their support online as part of the council campaign.

See Westmeath County Council’s Facebook or Twitter page for further information and join in on the 2017 Westmeath Car Free Day Campaign.
