Christmas millionaire claims prize

A delighted man from County Westmeath got the gift of a lifetime on Wednesday as he collected a cheque for a magnificent €1 million at National Lottery offices in Dublin.

The lucky winner won the top prize in the Christmas Millionaire Raffle draw, which took place on New Year’s Eve. Brian Ormond drew the top six prize-winning tickets on RTÉ One as part of New Year’s Eve Live - The Ultimate Gathering from College Green in Dublin.

Celebrating his win with a glass of champagne, the thrilled Westmeath man, who wishes to remain private said, “Life should be a little easier now. I’ve a million plans for the million euro. It’s very exciting. I’m in heaven!”

The winning ticket, number 139 235, was sold in Tesco, Ashe Road, Mullingar. The ticket was purchased on Saturday December 21.

The Christmas Millionaire Raffle draw took place on Tuesday December 31. Some 2,236 cash prizes ranging from €1 million to €500 were won in the draw.

A €100,000 prize-winning ticket has yet to be claimed. The winning ticket was purchased in Cork. All winning Christmas Millionaire Raffle ticket numbers are available in National Lottery agent stores and on lottery.ie

National Lottery good causes benefit from the sale of all National Lottery games, with approximately one third of all sales going to fund projects around the country.

To date the National Lottery has raised over €4.2 billion for good causes.
