Arthur to stand for next general election

Fine Gael councillor Colm Arthur has declared his intention to seek the Fine Gael party’s nomination to contest the next general election.

Cllr Arthur says that he was inspired at young age to become a TD by then Fine Gael TD Jerry Lystrange and former leader Garret Fitzgerald. This ambition came closer in June 2009 when he was elected to Westmeath County Council.

Cllr Arthur says that he has been encouraged by the response from his constituents to his work on Westmeath County Council. He will be calling for the support of party members at the selection convention scheduled for the end of November.
