Work begins on Galway train platforms

Iarnrod Eireann has began work to upgrade the Woodlawn and Attymon railways stations to accommodate the new railcars operating on the Galway route.

The platforms will be made 74 metres longer to accommodate the new trains, and lighting and other upgrades will be added to both stations.

The works are scheduled to be completed in October of this year.

The upgrading of platforms at Woodlawn and Attymon stations will see the completion of platform work on the Galway line.

The new fleet of railcars was ordered from Mitsui of Japan, in partnership with Rotem of the Republic of Korea and Tokyu Car Corporation of Japan.
