A fundraisng two day clothes and book sale in aid of children in Moldova will take place in St Anne’s Boxing Club, Westport tomorrow Saturday, March 28 and Sunday, March 29. Doors open at 10.30am both days, with new stock added each day.

One of Ireland’s foremost comtemporary poets, Michael Longley, is to give a special reading of some of his ‘Mayo poems’ in the Ballina Arts Centre, on Friday, April 10.
For more than 40 years, Longley has been a regular visitor to west Mayo. In that time he has written many poems set in the county.

The Mayo Genealogy Group is working on a new project to celebrate 101 extraordinary Mayo people.
The genealogy group is compiling a new directory of 101 Mayo people with remarkable life stories and the project will be officially launched tomorrow (Saturday) at the National Museum of Ireland - Country Life in Turlough Park, Castlebar, at 2pm.

The Multiple Sclerosis church gate collection takes place this weekend, Saturday March 7 and Sunday March 8, at all churches in Mayo. All moneys raised will be spent on the provision of services for people who live with multiple sclerosis in the Mayo area.
