Hurling fever has taken hold of Galway as the county prepares to tackle Limerick in this Sunday's decider at Croke Park, when Micheál Donoghue's senior men travel to Dublin, looking to secure back-to-back titles for the first time since 1988.

The Galway minor hurlers under the guidance of the experienced Jeffrey Lynskey will be in action against Kilkenny on Sunday 19 August in the All-Ireland final after an impressive 3-22 to 0-16 win over Dublin last Saturday at GAA headquarters.

The 2018 Leinster hurling championship final on July 1 in Croke Park will see Galway face their old nemesis Kilkenny in what promises to be an intriguing final.

Croke Park on the first Saturday in October will be the defining memory for a lot of Mayo GAA supporters that they take with them into 2017, but while there's still great disappointment that the Mayo senior footballers fell short at the final fence following a fantastic effort, there is still much to celebrate coming out of 2017.

On Sunday afternoon one of the greats of Ardnaree's past Fr Peter Quinn will be laid to rest in St Patrick's cemetery in Kilglass. The current crop of Ardnaree players will be hoping that by the time Fr Quinn, who won All Ireland medals with Mayo in 1950 and 51, is laid to rest they will have followed in his footsteps and walked the staircase in Croke Park and become All Ireland champions.

The Mayo juniors will get their big day in the sun when they take on Kerry in the All Ireland junior final on Saturday week, after the GAA confirmed the showpiece in the grade will be on the under card of Mayo's senior All Ireland quarter-final in GAA headquarters. Mayo booked their place in the final of the competition last Saturday with a 1-12 to 0-8 win over Kilkenny in Tullamore, and sets up a repeat of the 2012 final meeting between the two sides.

Galway have had issues at full-back and centre-back over the past few years and it will be interesting to see if John Hansbury and Iarla Tannian are the men to solve those problem positions.
