Girls at Kilbeggan school first to get HPV vaccine

A group of first year students at Kilbeggan Secondary School were the first in Westmeath to receive the free HPV vaccine by the HSE this week. The HPV vaccine will protect girls from developing cervical cancer when they are adults.

Summer bed closures at Mullingar Hospital not unusual says HSE

The HSE has said that the closure of 16 beds at the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar is a routine procedure during the summer months. In a statement, it said that the demand for services reduces over the summer period “where patients take summer holidays and hospitals historically effect bed closures during that period”.
