Taking time to choose the right career

Q: My son is in Transition Year, but he hasn’t a clue what he wants to do after school. He’s mad into sports – plays a lot of rugby – and I also notice he has an interest in property: he’s forever checking out prices of properties, and he watches all of those home makeover and ‘a place in the sun’ type TV programmes. But property is a tough game now so I’m reluctant to suggest estate management to him as a career. What should I do to help him make an informed decision? (Mary, email)

Castlebar Golf Club hosted its own Gathering golf event entitled the Middle East Celts Golf Classic. Lady captain Mary Caulfield and her committee drove this project from its inception to reality and it turned out to be a fantastic success with a huge crowd of Celts turning out to play, including US Celts such as James McGovern, Adam Niles, Dave Perez, and Dustin Sparman; Middle East Celts from Dubai including Kevin Burns and Noel Rice; flying Celts including Siobhan Dravins, Albert Dravins, Margaret Reynolds, and Brian Reynolds as well as a large number of local Celts.

A JobBridge ad for a primary school teacher in Athlone has been branded “exploitative” and “demeaning” by a local councillor.

Raffle to fund Jes students’ trip to Empire Mock Trial World final in New York
