The road safety department of Mayo County Council is reminding trick or treaters that the major dangers at Hallowe’en are not from ghosts and goblins, but rather pedestrian/vehicle collisions. To date this year 28 pedestrians have been killed on Irish roads. 

'In-vest’ road safety campaign

In an innovative way to increase the number of pedestrians and cyclists wearing high visibility clothing, Mayo County Council and An Garda Síochána have teamed up in a community initiative aimed at encouraging more pedestrians and cyclists to make sure that they can be clearly seen on the roads at night.
