The award was received in recognition of the establishment of Claremorris in Mayo as Ireland’s first fibre town.
Claremorris moved itself to the top of the technology chain this week when the town was unveiled as Ireland’s first fibre town Enet, Ireland’s open access network operator, is building Ireland’s first fibre town in Claremorris, through a €0.5m investment in broadband infrastructure which sees AirSpeed Telecom offering 250Mbs broadband connectivity to local businesses.
On Monday, Claremorris will announce its step into the future when it sets out its plans to become Ireland’s first fibre town. The project will be launched by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny in the McWilliam Park Hotel in the town.
