Last Friday, I had the pleasure of attending the launch of Comhairle na nÓg’s Safety Survey Report in the Westside Youth Project centre, based on a survey they carried out with young people in the city earlier this year. This report detailed their safety concerns around the city, on public transport, and in public spaces.

Athlone resident attains an international literary award

A recognised literary award winner has made Athlone her home. Swathi Sasidharan, who is of Indian origin, attained the noted FOKANA (Federation of Kerala Associations in North America) literary award in recent times, moved to the heart of Ireland in 2005 after her husband commenced work with the computer software engineering company, Ericsson.
