Consumers avoid shops that do not accept card as method of payment

Some 43 per cent of Irish consumers have at one stage intentionally avoided a shop that did not have card or contactless payment facilities, according to a new survey by card payment provider BOI Payment Acceptance (BOIPA).

Fianna Fáil General Election candidate for Mayo Cllr Lisa Chambers has accused the Government of breaking yet another promise on broadband. As part of the Capital Investment Programme announced this week, Communications Minister Alex White pledged to spend €275m on the National Broadband Plan. However, that is significantly less than the €512m initially promised for the project.

Galway received a jobs boost yesterday with the announcement by Supermac's founders Pat and Una McDonagh that 100 jobs are to be created at the country's latest motorway service station on the M6 at Kiltullagh. The couple will also employ a further 220 people in the future due to plans for three further plaza developments nationwide over the next two years.
