The Gift, a tribute to Galway’s Angeline Cooke

The last remaining artworks by the late and gifted Galway painter, Angeline Cooke, will be shown at the Coole Gallery in Gort over the August Bank Holiday weekend. ‘The Gift’ exhibition celebrates Angeline’s luminous talent, and all proceeds from the sale of her paintings will be donated to the Irish Kidney Association (IKA) and the Strange Boat Donor Foundation Circle of Life Garden in Salthill, Galway.

The Board, Officers and Members of the Irish Kidney Association were deeply saddened to hear the news of the sudden passing of Angeline Cooke, from Maunsells Road, Galway, last week and they have extended their deepest sympathies to her family and friends. A founding member of the Association, Angeline underwent a kidney transplant in 1996. She enjoyed the successful longevity of this transplant for over 25 years before returning to dialysis treatment. Her gratitude to her deceased kidney donor was immense.

A “to let” advertisement in a Galway newspaper in April 1860 promoted the fact that Seamount Villa contained a parlour, drawing room, six bedrooms, a kitchen, water closet, a coach house with some stabling, and a small garden. The grounds were nicely laid out and had an approach to the sea. George Fallon who lived at ‘The Baths’, Salthill, would show the place to prospective customers.
