The GIY Get Ireland Growing fund is open to community groups, schools, allotments with communal space, community gardens, and not-for-profits looking to develop or enhance an existing community food-growing initiative. Schools can apply for training services or equipment that will allow students to grow their own fruit or vegetables.

Communities across Mayo get growing

Seventy-two community based food-growing projects, including voluntary groups, residents associations, schools, and hospitals are to benefit from grants of up to €5,000 from the GIY (Grow It Yourself) Get Ireland Growing Fund, in partnership with AIB. Four community food projects in Mayo received funding including Ballyhaunis Community Garden.

A Galway based group hope to set up the first ecological community in the west of Ireland. The Galway Sustainable Community Project (GSCP) aims to construct a small, purpose-built and environmentally sustainable settlement in the west where residents will produce some of their own food and energy and form a strong, close-knit, community.
