Boost to local economy thanks to clever business networking

€5 million has been generated by local business people in Mayo as a result of effective business networking. The St Colman's BNI group who meet locally in Claremorris every Tuesday morning in the McWilliam Park Hotel is made up of 23 business people who work together to build the local economy. The St Colman's BNI group supports more than 100 jobs locally with this set to grow in the coming months with new business wins among members.

Mayo volunteer aims to improve primary education in Uganda

Padraic McKeon, a retired primary principal teacher from Mayo has departed for Uganda to begin his third volunteer placement with VSO Ireland, the international development organisation that fights poverty through volunteers. Padraic will use his professional skills and experience to volunteer as a teacher educator in the Karamoja region where he will be involved in capacity building for pre-service tutors and students in preparation for school practice.
