NUI, Galway’s massive energy management system to be certified to international standards

NUI Galway has announced its Energy Management System (EnMS) will be certified to International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) 50001. The certification, which will be completed in September 2012, will cover the university campus in Galway, including more than 110,000sqm of facilities, including teaching, leisure and sports, conference, laboratory, and cutting-edge research facilities.

Ring welcomes housing capital allocations of over €3.5 million

Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Michael Ring TD has welcomed the announcement by the Minister for Housing and Planning, Jan O’Sullivan TD in relation to the housing capital allocations to local authorities worth €251.5 million for 2012. The allocation will support investment under the national regeneration programme, works to improve the standard and energy efficiency of the national social housing stock as well as meeting commitments under the existing contracts for delivering social and voluntary houses. Further multi-annual capital investment programmes for new housing construction projects will be outlined later in the year.

€4 million for Galway housing stock improvements

Housing stock in Galway city and county is set to benefit from significant improvement works to existing supply, as well as the provision of additional social and voluntary housing, after it was announced this week that funding of nearly €4 million has been allocated to both local authorities.
