Already extented by one night in its first run, the quality of this production quickly led to it being booked out early in the week. Paddy Martin’s experience as a director ensured that the very able cast, spearheaded by the excellent Ann Hoey, really brought out the spirit and humour of the play.Supporting roles by both experienced actors and newcomers were played with an enthusiasm tempered with an appreciation of the human dilemmas inherent in the script.

Athlone Film Club continues its autumn/winter season on November 24 with The Visitor (USA 2007) a heartfelt, humanistic drama that deftly explores identity, immigration, and other major post- 9/11 issues.
